Where did 2012 go?

As this new year gets closer I have been thinking about what I want 2013 to be like.  I got Dan Miller's newsletter in my inbox and what he had to say had an impact on me and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Welcome from Dan

We know many people struggle with discouragement in this week between Christmas and the New Year.  Broken resolutions, failed goals, strained relationships and financial shortfalls can make it hard to be optimistic.  But there’s also something magical and fresh about starting a New Year.  So let’s draw that line in the sand and decide now what we want 2013 to look like.  Often an unreached goal still moves us to higher levels of success.  If you wanted to increase your income from $50,000 to $75,000 but finished the year at $68,000 – celebrate that success.  You didn’t “fail,” you made a 36% increase.  If you wanted to lose 20lbs and only lost 15, celebrate that accomplishment.

The definition of “success” is “The progressive realization of worthwhile goals.”  Thus, as soon as you start moving in that direction you are already “successful.”  And be reminded, success is not a destination; it is a direction.  You can experience success today!

It is so important to remember to set goals rather than resolutions. Any progress towards a goal is a step in the right direction and should make you happy. Celebrate all of your small accomplishments and look towards the next step.
Make this the best year ever!
